Kelowna’s Cole Barr Public Skateboard Park

“It has just been approved by the city, and this is now becoming a reality. A new skatepark, in the name of the late, great Cole Barr!
It is to be located in the Mission area of Kelowna and it is gonna be so fu*kin awesome.

New Direction, when we started TheCrew, the idea was to do an online store, that still stands. However we are more than a store. We have served the skateboarding community in a number of ways over the last 12 years, such as being on skatepark building committees in BC, Alberta and Oregon. Building ramps for organizations around the North West, volunteering in youth skateboard programs, contributing to website communities and much more. Shawn for a 8′ wide I would keep it shorter – like 3′ (see pictures of my
ramp it is 3′ tall)

Here are the plans for my ramp. It has a 5′ 9″ radius. I have 10′ of flat
on it. 8′ of flat is ok, 10′ is better. The plan I sent shows 8′ of flat.

If you want to go 3.5′ do a 6′ radius. See plan. I think 1.5 coping or 2″
will both be good. 2″ is what I have, but 1.5″ is cheaper and fine.

If you want to go 4′ do a 7′ radius.

About 8 years ago I was walking in downtown Vancouver, out of the corner of my eye I saw a board in the cart of an Urban Nomad. I figured even if it was a department store set up, it would be worth $5. Well he didn’t think so, he thought $10. I started to walk away and then remembered I had $2 more dollars on me, I offered him $7, he took it and we made the exchange. Little did I know how amazing of a deal it was for me.

I have since had this board in storage, until tonight, when I hope to walk down the snowy sidewalk to my local indoor, and rip it up all night. Boom!

Since we gave a shout out yesterday to CASE, I figured we should also let you know that our local rural Alberta indoor is now on one of the most amazing resources for skateboarding in Western Canada.
